After the recent trip down to Timaru for the Backflips Skate Comp, I snuck along to join a post comp jam down at Temuka Skate park. After spending the day behind the lens already, I got pretty lazy and ended up lying down and laxing out on the pyramid with a beer and my camera —  and not really moving much.

I did however manage to catch these 4 gems… and also props to Zak McClean who stomped a nice treflip just as I was getting set up, sorry bro the frame I got looks shite!

Traveling is one of the coolest parts of being a photographer, even though it was only a couple of hours down the road, it was still a nice little mission to Timaru for the 2011 Backflips Movember Skate Jam. Skaters from Dunedin, Wanaka, Christchurch, Temuka — all around the South Island gathered at the Timaru Skatepark for their share in a huge prize pool.

A couple of weekends ago the Amazon crew threw on a pretty sweet game of SKATE in their new store in Northlands mall. The best of the best battled it out for over $3,000 worth of prizes, including one of the best challenges I think I’ve ever seen between James Kingston and Danny Yeoward.

A couple of weeks ago I trekked over to Zak Mclean’s place for a night shoot on his swish new backyard miniramp. Jordan McStay and Greymouth’s Izaak Cavert were there to help rip it up under the limited light from a van’s headlights on one end, and a trusty Dolphin torch on the other. Here’s what we got…
