Laura & Hamish / Canterbury Alpine wedding

Glenthorne Station, NZ

Both Lisa and I have got a soft spot for the mountains of Canterbury (having grown up in them) and Laura & Hamish’s Canterbury alpine wedding was something from my dreams. Private land surrounded by scree slopes, golden tussocks with a sprinkling snow. Not only that but access is by 4WD only, all the way into the hidden retreat. Just the smell of a trusty 4.2 diesel 80 series Landcruiser, and once the trucks shut off… the silence. Wow. No cell coverage, no wind and a collection of amazing, like-minded humans.

Quite a formula for an incredible day, especially as there was no timeline. Yep no timeline aside from putting the BBQ on at about 4:30pm! Their ceremony was held under the trees, and simply happened when all the guests were ready. Following that, we then jumped onto the convoy of mostly old trucks taking all of the guests on an epic excursion. Lake Lilian was an absolute highlight for sure. Tucked right up in the alps. Views were served up anywhere you looked. No more words, We’ll let the photos do the talking…
