Capture your surprise proposal at Roys Peak
Planning to pop the question at Roys Peak, Lake Wanaka? Technically known as Coromandel Peak, this location is like no other. Unlike the Roys Peak Walking track, Coromandel Peak is on private land and only accessible by helicopter. This means when we book a flight there, you have the whole place exclusively to yourselves. You also get the iconic uninterrupted view as seen above, right out over Lake Wanaka.
We offer Roys Peak surprise proposal photography combined with a helicopter package. We’ll work with you to plan the moment, navigate the weather, and capture your moment naturally through both photography and video. We’re Andy and Lisa, South Island locals based right here in Wanaka. Andy has been working as a professional photographer since 2008, and has a 100% ‘yes’ rate with planning and documenting surprise proposals. This can either be achieved as a complete surprise, being in the right place at the right time, or can be secretly integrated into a couples photo session.
Our Process
Set the scene
We‘ll set your date and book your helicopter flight. Set up as a ‘scenic’ flight, with Andy on board disguised as another traveller.
Pre shoot guidance
When planning a photoshoot like this, we’ll work through everything we can control so you can be confident on the day.
Go time
I’ll be there, on time and ready to go. Let your nerves relax and know you’re in good hands for this special moment.
Enjoy and reflect
We’ll continue our photo session to follow, and I’ll curate, edit and deliver your photos and video for you to enjoy and share.

PHOTOGRAPHY
We’ll be there to capture your proposal, the tears, the hugs and the emotions without getting in the way. You’ll also enjoy an hour of location photography to follow. Your photos will be carefully curated, edited and delivered as high res images for you to print and share as you like.
CAMERA VIEW VIDEO
While photos capture those exact moments, a video captures a lot more. I mount an action camera to the top of my main camera, and have it rolling for your proposal, so everything I see is recorded as a video. You can then enjoy that special minute or two back in real time.

Hybrid Video
More than just the behind the scenes video. This is series of thoughtfully shot video clips of your entire session. Shot from Andy’s camera and drone where applicable. We’ll allow a little extra time on the day, capturing the movement and emotions. Delivered as a highlight film edited to licensed music.

Wild Picnic
The perfect way to wrap up your photo session and roll out another surprise. We’ll have a picnic for 2 set up somewhere scenic and quiet. Included will be a grazing box along with non-alcoholic NZ bubbles. We’ll grab a few photos as you settle in, then leave you to it and soak in the views.

Flowers
Flowers make everything special. We work with an incredible local florist to create a bouquet that will set the scene. We will also arrange getting your flowers to your location, whether its hidden away as a second surprise, or set on the ground as the perfect marker for where to do your proposal.
